Dynamic Functional Solutions Inc. is pleased to deliver a seminar essential to all stakeholders as we prepare for the government's auto insurance reforms, which take effect June 1, 2016.

The Dynamic SABS Seminar 2016 will have a strong focus on the amended definition of Catastrophic Impairment. To review these changes in detail, please refer to the attached link:

Our panel of experts features Dr. Ranavaya, who will deliver a customized education seminar from an end-user perspective outlining key concepts, underlying principles and the rules of the use of the 4th and 6th editions of the AMA Guides. The audience will learn what to look for and particularly how to spot the red flags about the quality and appropriate use of the AMA Guides.

In addition, a panel of industry experts, which includes Kadey Shultz, Willie Handler and Dr. Michael Hanna will discuss and debate all of the changes that will affect our industry and how we work with and manage SABS claims.

How many kicks at the CAT do we need to get the SABS "right"? Are we there yet? Join Kadey B.J. Schultz of Schultz Frost LLP in an ever lively and provocative discussion focusing on the legal and process issues at play with the new definition of catastrophic impairment.

"How did we get to where we are today?"

Willie Handler worked with the Expert Panel and the Superintendent on their reports recommending changes to the SABS definition of catastrophic impairment. He will discuss how the definition evolved during the review and consultation process and the rationale behind the changes.

"It’s all about the AMA Guides"

Dr. Ranavaya has performed several thousand independent medical evaluations and is an internationally recognized expert in the AMA Guides and has taught globally over ten thousand physicians, skills for performing independent medical evaluations and how to be more effective in the use of the AMA Guides to the Evaluation of Permanent Impairment.

Dr. Ranavaya served as a section editor for the AMA Guides to the Evaluation of Permanent Impairment, 6th Edition.

He also served as the first Chair of the psychiatric chapter in the AMA Guides, 6th Edition (Chapter 14 – Mental and Behavioral Disorders), the very chapter that is referenced in the new SABS definition of Catastrophic Impairment


Dr. Ranavaya served on the senior editorial advisory committee of the AMA Guides 5th edition and is a contributor to the AMA Guides 5th edition. He is one of the founding fathers of the American Board of Independent Medical Examiners (ABIME) and has helped develop the certifying exam for physicians seeking credentials as certified independent medical examiners.

"Beyond the AMA Guides"

Tricks are for kids! Understanding the upcoming SABS changes can be tricky and even more so when applying them to your day-to-day CAT files! Dr. Hanna will discuss the changes to the SABS definition of Catastrophic Impairment that goes beyond the AMA Guides. Dr. Hanna will look at the newly introduced criteria and the measures within each, such as: ASIA Impairment Scale, Spinal Cord Independence Measure,
neuro-urological impairment, and Extended Glasgow Outcome Scale.

Tammie is an all lines licensed adjuster who has specialized in casualty claims handling since 1995. In addition to direct handling of claims, she has authored several published articles relating to ethics in claims handling, legislative changes affecting first and third party claims, the handling of serious injury and catastrophic claims and has authored and taught comprehensive courses pertaining to the investigation of both accident benefits and bodily Injury claims.

She spent three years as a Career Connections Ambassador for the Insurance Institute of Canada, sat on the CIP National Society for 4 years, is a Past President of the Ontario Insurance Adjusters Association and currently sits on the Insurance Program Advisory Committee for Durham College. Tammie is the Founder and CEO of ProFormance Group Insurance Solutions which provides third party administration services, training and auditing solutions and leadership coaching and education to the Industry.
